Love Your Doorstep Commends Enfield Schools for United Action on Smartphone Use

Enfield, 2 May 2025 – Love Your Doorstep proudly supports the recent decision by over 80 schools across Enfield, in collaboration with Enfield Council, to restrict smartphone use among school-aged children starting September 2025. This proactive and united step reflects growing concerns from educators, parents, and the wider community about the impact of smartphone use on young people’s mental health, learning, and social development.

By banning smartphones in primary schools and for new Year 7 students throughout their secondary education, Enfield is prioritising children’s well-being and fostering safer, more focused school environments.

Emma Rigby, founder of Love Your Doorstep, said: “This is a bold and commendable move that puts the health and development of our young people first. We know from our community conversations just how many families are worried about online safety, distraction, and mental health. Enfield’s leadership on this issue sends a powerful message nationally.”

Love Your Doorstep encourages other boroughs to take note of this landmark collaboration between schools and local authorities, and to join in creating a healthier digital culture for children.
